The best color in the world
Is there a shade that reflects the 21st century? The color of the era of globalization, digital communication and crowdsourcing creativity?
In the summer of 2017, emerald green was named the best color in the world. This shade of green pines and backwaters was proposed by Annie Marrs, producer of Leisure & Culture Dundee and named Marrs Green. According to the girl, she was inspired by the rich blue-greens of the Tay River in her native Scotland.
The online survey, which was attended by 30,000 people from 100 countries, was initiated by G.F Smith, an English printing paper mill. The winning color has been added to the Colorplan reference collection. Launched in 1936, it includes 50 shades ranging from the luscious mandarin and psychedelic Britain of the 1960s to the muted fog and rock of the 1970s.
“The complex shades on the border of two colors are what attracts us the most because we can perceive them the way we like at the moment,” comments Chris McManus, professor at University College London.
